When the internal stress of the nickel layer is large, the hardness of the plating layer will be larger, but easy to peel, crack or poor ductility. So, what are the factors related to the internal stress of the nickel layer?
1, the plating solution pH value is not normal. When the pH value of the nickel plating solution increases, there will be hydrogen precipitation near the cathode to increase the pH value, which will produce nickel hydroxide particles mixed in the plating layer, increasing the hardness of the plating layer. In production, the pH value of the plating solution should be in the lower range in order to obtain a softer nickel-plated layer.
2, the current density is too high and the temperature is too low. In high current density and low temperature, nickel-plated layer of internal stress will increase, the production should pay attention to the use of appropriate current density and keep the plating solution temperature in the process range, the temperature should not be less than 50 ℃.
3, the influence of impurities in the plating solution. Impurities are more complex factors affecting the nickel-plated layer. Impurities in the nickel plating process is more difficult to control, often accumulated to a certain amount before they are found, and once the failure, it is more difficult to exclude. Such as organic impurities is generally an excess of plating additives or the accumulation of their decomposition products, the plating layer is relatively bright, but the dispersion ability is not good, it is easy to skin, in the high current area there will be the phenomenon of cracking.
