In the plating process, zinc-nickel alloy is favored for its good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. However, in order to ensure the quality of the plating layer, the pretreatment process of the workpiece, especially the oil and rust removal, is particularly important. In this article, we will discuss in detail the key points that need to be paid attention to when using zinc-nickel alloy additives, such as the workpiece oil removal and rust removal pre-treatment process.

First of all, degreasing is the first step of the pre-treatment process, and its purpose is to remove grease and dirt from the surface of the workpiece to ensure a good bonding between the plated layer and the substrate. The grease on the surface of the workpiece will seriously affect the adhesion and uniformity of the plated layer.

Therefore, when choosing degreasing agent, alkaline degreasing agent should be preferred because of its strong oil removal ability and small damage to the surface of the workpiece. At the same time, degreasing process should be strictly control the temperature and time, in order to avoid excessive corrosion of the surface of the workpiece or degreasing is not complete.

Secondly, descaling is an indispensable part of the pre-treatment process. Rust and oxides on the surface of the workpiece will seriously affect the corrosion resistance and bonding strength of the plating layer. The surface of the workpiece must be thoroughly cleaned and free of rust, oil and other impurities to ensure the uniformity and quality of the coating.

Therefore, in the process of descaling, a suitable pickling solution, such as dilute sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, should be selected, and the pickling time and temperature should be strictly controlled. Meanwhile, neutralization treatment should be carried out immediately after pickling to prevent excessive corrosion on the surface of the workpiece.

In addition, when using zinc-nickel alloy additives (e.g. Bigely zinc-nickel alloy additive BZ-617), the following points should be noted: firstly, the amount of additives added and the method of using them should be carried out in strict accordance with the process requirements to ensure the uniformity and quality of the plating layer; secondly, the plating solution should be analyzed and maintained on a regular basis to ensure the stability of the composition and the performance of the plating layer; and thirdly, the temperature in the plating process should be strictly controlled, current density and time and other parameters in the plating process to obtain suitable plating effect.
