Sn-819 High Speed Bright Tin Plating Additive
Sn-819 is a tin plating process based on methanesulfonic acid substrate. The coating is bright, suitable for rack plating and barrel plating.
The weldability of the coating is superior. The plating solution does not corrode titanium, ceramics, and glass.

Plating tank: It is recommended to use polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC lining, hard rubber lining plating tank. Do not use unlined steel, stainless steel plating cylinders or lead-lined plating cylinders.
·Heating and cooling: No heating required. It can be heated directly or indirectly if necessary. The immersion heater or heat exchanger must use an acid-proof outer cover. The temperature of the electrolyte must be maintained between 18-30°C.
·Filtration: In order to ensure the uniformity of the electroplating layer, filtration is required. A stable filter in the bath can be used. It is recommended to use an acid-proof polypropylene filter tube. If the plating solution is very turbid, a good quality filter can be used. Do not use rubber filter tubes.
·Stirring: the rack-plated workpiece is stirred with a speed machine of 0.5-1 m/min. Because oxygen can convert divalent tin into trivalent tin, air stirring is not allowed.
·Anode: A pure tin anode must be used. The impurity-containing anode has an effect on the coating. The anode area should be reasonable, not more than 3A/square decimeter. Polypropylene can be used as the anode basket. If the plating is stopped for a long time, the anode needs to be lifted to prevent the metal content in the plating solution from being too high.
·Rectifier: Use a rectifier with a residual ripple less than 5%.

Bath preparation
·Add half a tank of water into the plating tank, add acid carefully, and stir
·Add the required tin methanesulfonate and stir evenly
·Add tin brightener, softener, then add pure water and stir evenly
Tin brightener and softener should not be stored for a long time at a temperature lower than 15°C and higher than 36°C.

When maintaining the plating solution, the following components are needed:

Tin concentration
The concentration of divalent tin should be maintained. If the concentration of divalent tin is too low, add tin methanesulfonate.
If you want to increase the tin concentration of 100 liters of bath by 1 g/liter, add 0.5 liter of tin methanesulfonate.
Concentration of acid concentrate
The free acid concentration should not be less than 100 g/l. When replenishing, add tin methanesulfonate at a concentration of 70%. If you want to increase the acid concentration of 100 liters of plating solution by 1 g/liter, add 143 ml of methanesulfonic acid.
Sn-819B brightener and Sn-819A softener

Tin plating defoamer:
Generally speaking, no defoamer is needed. If the appearance of foam endangers the quality of the plated parts, add 1-2 ml/liter tinning defoamer. This additive does not contain mineral oil and silicon. It is provided as an emulsifier. Shake well before use.

0.2% starch solution: Dissolve 2 grams of starch with 500 ml of pure water or distilled water, and dilute to 1 liter.

Add 100 ml of pure water and 10 ml of hydrochloric acid to the conical flask.
Stir well and add a few drops of freshly prepared starch solution.
